Summer Institutes in Iowa
Past Institutes
Since 1994, 761 foreign language educators from 49 states
have participated in these institutes and workshops. Participants
include K-12 classroom teachers, district supervisors of
foreign language who provide in-service preparation for
the teachers in their district, and foreign language teacher
educators at colleges and universities who prepare pre-service
and in-service teachers. Look here for a list of past attendees.
Although each of the Center summer institutes has a distinct
focus, the overarching themes of the Center are integrated
into all of the institutes: innovative technology, performance
assessment, action research, foreign language student standards,
and collaboration. Center workshops are designed to address
clearly defined topics in depth during a short time period.
The Center's institutes, which are organized by the initiatives,
are listed below. Additional information is available about
institutes with established links.
