teacher development task force

The goal of the Teacher Development Task Force is to identify and define the key components that might be included in a national foreign language teacher education program for pre-service teachers and a national agenda for professional development for in-service teachers.

Both the model and the agenda will be based on data gathered from a variety of sources, including:

• Current teacher preparation and professional development programs;
• A needs assessment conducted in the field;
• Studies of existing and proposed professional-development materials and frameworks; and
• National teacher standards and accreditation initiatives.

Working through New Visions in Action, the Professional Development Task Force will disseminate the results of its efforts nationally.
